Got Talent?

You have seen the many talent shows all over TV: America’s Got Talent, the late American Idol, The Voice. It seems every station is cashing in on what the seeing what above average talent the average person has and how well they can do it. What talents do you have? Are you too shy to use them? Check this out. I am going to give you a very straight forward approach for where talents and gifts come from. All these reasons are directly from the bible.

The LORD let Moses know of the talents He gave to certain people of the children of Israel so that the Tabernacle could be built. Exodus 35:30-35:

“And Moses said unto the children of Israel, See, the Lord hath called by name Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah; And he hath filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship; And to devise curious works, to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass, And in the cutting of stones, to set them, and in carving of wood, to make any manner of cunning work. And he hath put in his heart that he may teach, both he, and Aholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan. Them hath he filled with wisdom of heart, to work all manner of work, of the engraver, and of the cunning workman, and of the embroiderer, in blue, and in purple, in scarlet, and in fine linen, and of the weaver, even of them that do any work, and of those that devise cunning work.”

Just as a reminder, where do your talents come from? James 1:17:

"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change."

What do we do with them? Romans 12:6:

"Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith."

Don’t be cocky with what you are given. Romans 12:3:

"For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith."

He who GOD appoints, He anoints.

Don’t think you’re worthy or qualify for the call GOD has on your life? A number of prophets in the days of old thought the same. The LORD was quick to correct them and their thinking. Jeremiah 1:4-19:

"Now the word of the Lord came to me, saying, 'Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.' Then I said, 'Ah, Lord God! Behold, I do not know how to speak, for I am only a youth.' But the Lord said to me, 'Do not say, ‘I am only a youth’; for to all to whom I send you, you shall go, and whatever I command you, you shall speak. Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you, declares the Lord.'"

Everyone has some sort of talent. It’s what and how you use it and that it pleases GOD that gave it to you. If you don’t think you’re good enough remember, It’s not your ability, but your availability. The LORD will sharpen you and polish your talents and your skills so they can be most effective for His service.

Our Creator loves us and wants to give us everything. So, if we are obedient and listen to the LORD, he will have a mission for you. Also remember that GOD will never send you or tell you to do anything without having the right tools to do the job.

He who GOD appoints He anoints.

Can you give us a time when you used your talent for the first time for the LORD and what you learned through that and how it encouraged you?
